Asbestos, Blood and Funerals
So its been a bit of a big week. I had my first night duties as the only RN in the hospital. I was a little apprehensive but I got through. One of our patients who has been in hospital for a while with end stage cancer passed away on my first night duty. It was pretty sad and a bit stressful cuz I was in charge and had to make the decisions but we got there.
To add to the busy-ness of work, we currently are getting the asbestos removed from the hospital roof so we have to close off parts of the hospital and move whats there in to the rest of the hospital. And then every few days we have to move stuff back and empty out another part of the hospital. It makes it hard to find stuff cuz just when you learn where the new hiding place for stuff is, then it moves.
But in some fun work news, I have gotten to take so many blood tests this week that I think my career could almost double as a vampire. I am getting better at getting the veins but I still missed about a third of the veins I tried to stick. Lots of added pain for more poor patients but such is the price of education.
Thats all for me. If ur related to me, comment - cuz chances are, I havent talked to you for a while. ie BEC!
